The Voodoo Experience, held in New Orleans Louisiana on Halloween weekend featured some phenomenal acts. These acts included Dead Confederate, Interpol, Deadmau5, Eagles of Death Metal, Street Sweeper Social Club and many more.
The festival was held in City Park, and had all the ingredients to make Halloween in New Orleans a real treat. Dead Confederate showed off their new album, “Sugar” while, Interpol did the same by playing a few tracks from their most recent self titled album “Interpol”.
MGMT was in the holiday spirit as they took the stage dressed as the crew from Scooby Dew and mixed it up with tracks from “Oracular Spectacular” and their newest one “Congratulations”.
Street Sweeper Social Club and Eagles of Death Metal accompanied helped wind down the second night of the festival with two high energy shows. Street Sweeper consists of the Coup’s Boots Riley and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. These guys put their talents together to bring us the album “The Ghetto Blaster”. One of The Eagles of Death Metal founders Josh Homme (also of Queens of the Stone Age) did not make an appearance during their Voodoo performance and it didn’t matter because cofounder Jesse Hughes and his bandmates blew the roof off the place with tracks from “Heart On”, Death by Sexy” and Peace, Love, Death Metal”.
Weezer also took the stage but at the Voodoo Experience, but lead singer Rivers Cuomo didn’t stay their for long as he much preferred the light tower and the mixing booth to standard stage area. England’s Hot Chip made a visit to the Voodoo Experience promoting their new album “One Life Stand”and played and electrifying show that had the crowd dancing.Performances from Deadmau5, Kaskade, The Crystal Method, and Rusko also transformed the festival into a regular dance party with their performances on the Le Plur stage.
This is the festival’s 12th production, and just renewed their contract with the city of New Orleans to keep the festival in City Park through 2019. So if you want to try an alternative to your regular old Halloween routine, definitely keep in mind that just 8 hours away great music and a great time await.
